Switzerland has maintained diplomatic relations with Oman and Yemen for more than fifty years. Over this period, political, economic, and people-to-people ties have steadily deepened. The opening of the Swiss Embassy in Muscat in 2014 was a strong sign of this positive development and of Switzerland’s commitment to strengthening its engagement in the region.
In Oman, Switzerland aims to further strengthen its bilateral ties, especially in trade and investment relations and in the field of peace promotion. Economic relations between Switzerland and Oman are supported by a comprehensive set of bilateral framework agreements, concluded to foster trade and investment in the interest of the Swiss and Omani business communities. In addition, both countries are committed to supporting mediation efforts and fostering dialogue as important tools for addressing regional and international challenges.
In Yemen, Switzerland is actively engaged in efforts to protect civilians and promote respect for international humanitarian law. Switzerland also supports peace initiatives by contributing its expertise in mediation, humanitarian action, and conflict resolution. These efforts are undertaken with the aim of contributing to a future of greater prosperity and security, both regionally and globally.
I feel privileged to serve in a country with such rich and profound traditions, renowned throughout the world for its remarkable spirit of hospitality. Together with the Embassy team, we are committed to serving the Swiss community in Oman and Yemen and to further strengthening the reciprocal relations between Switzerland, Oman, and Yemen.
