Schweizerische Botschaft in Oman
Die Botschaft als offizielle Vertretung der Schweiz deckt mit ihren Aktivitäten alle Themenbereiche der diplomatischen Beziehungen zwischen den beiden Regierungen ab. Sie vertritt die Schweizer Interessen in den Bereichen Politik, Wirtschaft, Finanzen, Rechtsordnung, Wissenschaft, Bildung und Kultur.
Zuständigkeiten
Die Schweizerische Botschaft in Maskat ist zuständig für die diplomatischen Beziehungen mit dem Sultanat Oman und der Republik Jemen.
Um das Visaverfahren für die Einwohnerinnen und Einwohner des Oman zu erleichtern, hat die Schweiz ein Abkommen mit den Niederlanden abgeschlossen. Anträge auf Erteilung eines Schengen-Visums können beim Joint Visa Application Centre der Niederlande in Maskat eingereicht werden.
Konsularische Fragen sind an die Schweizerische Botschaft in Riad/Saudi-Arabien zu adressieren. Die konsularischen Dienstleistungen für Schweizer Staatsangehörige werden weiterhin von der Schweizerischen Botschaft in Riad erbracht.
Security situation in the region

The FDFA now advises against tourist and non-essential travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman.
Airports in countries where the airspace is currently open are gradually expanding their services to respond as effectively as possible to the needs of those stranded in the region. However, restrictions on air traffic cannot be ruled out, and airspace may be closed at short notice.
Please contact your travel provider directly to discuss the options available to you. The travel agency will assist you with rebooking, extending hotel stays and other arrangements, as well as with planning your return journey.
If you have arranged your trip independently, you must contact the airline directly regarding flight options and tickets.
In the meantime, please follow the instructions issued by the local authorities. They provide information on security measures, warn the population and, if necessary, carry out evacuations.

The Embassy of Switzerland to Oman and Yemen has been informed by the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman that, effective Sunday, March 15th 2026, an Oman Air counter will be operational at the Omani land border crossings with the United Arab Emirates (Khatm Al Shikla Al Wajajah and Khatm Malaha) to facilitate the booking of travel tickets with Oman Air to various international destinations.
